Dear reading dolls,

Last Thursday I went to one of my favourite Parisian theatre to see “A Doll’s House”… I’m sorry to disappoint you; this has nothing to deal with this stupid American serial starring some of the best bad actresses of the world and called “Dollhouse”. I’m talking about the Ibsen’s play which narrates how Nora (the main character) slowly understands she has always been dependant and prisoner of a role her father, then her husband had given to her: She has always been treated as “a doll”, she has been living in a fantasy, an unconscious lie. When she realizes her husband is not the lover she thought he was she eventually decides to leave him to search and find out her real goals, and her own answers to the questions of Life. The mise en scène was too classic to my taste, but the actors were perfect, and it was delightful to hear again the Ibsen’s text that I truly love… When I came back in SL after this play, I just needed to cuddle up on my comfy sofa reading a virtual book (which means trying to organise my inventory’s hundreds of items: I’m starting to drown in this mess!).

But I was annoyed by one of my French contacts. You know, the kind of guy who always tells you he feels you’re too secret, you don’t really like him, you try to avoid him; the kind of guy who swears he doesn’t look for virtual sex or for any girl he could date in RL, but who often regrets not to know you enough… Yes the guy who tries to frighten you pretending he’s gonna “mute” you one day or another (because your relationship is great but not deep enough RL speaking), but who has never dared to put your name in his “Ignore list”… The kind of guy who suddenly was too boring to listen to, especially after a nice evening and a great play.

I don’t remember how I wished him “good luck”, “good life”, and “I just want to get rid of you” but I coldly entered his name in MY Ignore List. End of the story. This was my last trick as would sing Anja Garbarek. I felt relieved, free like Nora. This was not the first time I had been bored by this guy, but I had always succeeded in alternating a polite and understanding behaviour, with a more harsh one. This is what we call (in French) the technique of the “douche écossaise” (“Scottish shower“). The adjective “écossais” in this meaning, must be translated indeed by “Scottish”, but it could also be translated (in other meanings) by “tartan” or “plaid”.

And here rang my fashionista’s bell: after this “douche écossaise” and this Doll’s House, I was going to mix and match lots of bargains from my last Linden Fridays (plus some more expensive items I confess), and especially the plaid jacket by Milk Motion. Then after my plaid play, I would take snapshots at Scribble sim where I had located some “mannequins” behind a window, looking like…dolls…

Dear « ready to change your mind » readers,

As we’re used to say in French “Il n’y a que les imbéciles qui ne changent pas d’avis” (“only fools never change their minds”) and as I work hard not to be as foolish as I could be, I eventually decided to slip into a LeLutka skin, and even a non-black one.

When I was SL born, I immediately fell in love with Minnu Palen’s work and I think I have around fifty skins under the former Minnu brand in my inventory. For me they had “that” something, a peculiar “je ne sais quoi”! They were sexy, different; they were what I wanted to SL look like. Moreover Minnu was one of the first “blockbuster” brands to work on specific dark skins (which means she worked on different faces instead of simply decline the same face in different lights and tons). Of course I had lots of other designers’ skins as well, and even good ones, but at this point of my virtual life, I could not wear them without feeling the guilt of an adulterous relationship: my addiction to Minnu was supposed to last forever or at least until I SL die. And this happened: I SL died!… for some months… and came back!

Things had changed: no more Minnu, no more Cachet: Time for LeLutka. And guess what: I suddenly was tired to see the same famous skins on every SL beings’ faces, in so many blogposts, more often in underwears and spread legs if possible… I was done with Minnu and LeLutka! I was a virtual skeleton free to wrap its bones with the brand it wanted! Freedom for SL skeleton Yeah!

This was a great time of discovery: I realized I could be unfaithful to my Minnu skins and flirt with other brands, and even have true love affairs with them… I was so thrilled to see myself in so many different ways in so many different skins, that I even snubbed the Eclat-Jade, despite I always desperately look for beautiful black or dark skins…

This could have continued for a very long time. But some days ago, LeLutka released Estelle, the new born of the Eclat line… And if you remember the first lines of this post, you’ll understand that after so many time of “désamour”, I could not resist: this skin is such a “must wear” that I bought it without thinking. What a pleasure to look in the mirror and recognize Minnu’s work, even more enhanced. I immediately felt comfortable, as if I had put on a new-edition of a vintage Chanel dress… And I get dressed with a cute and comfy outfit, to fit the state of mind my new skin had aroused.Yes, listening to my favourite song of Elysian fields, it was obvious : I really have Minnu under my skin…

Dear nostalgic of (or allergic to) the seventies,

After my last post which exuded hate and anger, I truly needed something shallow and funny. “You should be dancing” told me Cayden. Happily he didn’t try to sing like one of the Bee Gees. But he was totally right! Music and dance are the best way to forget everyday problems, have fun, meet people, burn calories and wear our best “party dresses”!

I listened to this Grandadbob song which always makes me dance in front of my mirror, then I decided to go back to the seventies.

Why the seventies? Because this era is (in Europe and in the USA) the symbol of amazing parties, freedom, and expression of identities. Of course this was an illusion, nothing was so simple and minorities were still fighting for their rights. But at least, in the music, in the spotlights, and on the dance floors, there was the possibility of being united for celebration, for dance, for bodies’ pleasure!

Don’t ask me why, when I think 70’s I hear Disco, when I hear Disco I see gold! Let’s go to the golden age of Disco then! I put on my old golden dress from Nylon Outfitters which is totally vintage now, and simply added a jacket and some accessories (like this antique headress from Chapeau très Mignon which brings a 20’s side to my 70’s ). Don’t say I was too lazy to elaborate a more complex outfit: I just needed to party as soon as possible! Of course I ended my outfit with golden shoes but as I’m often unable to make choices I decided to take three different pairs of them and to alternate every three hours (or at each bottle of champagne)…

Cayden joined the party and created the perfect outfit to match mine. He even accepted to grant my request: as I remembered the “nigger” insult I had to tolerate (yes my last post again!) I decided to wear the best Afro haircut I could find in my inventory, and asked him to do the same. I’m not into racial classification. I never define a person with her/his skin colour, but for once it was quite funny to play with the cliché of the “Afro from the 70’s”. Dressed and combed this way, we could have been the heroes from a Blaxploitation movie. I’d have been the new Pam Grier, and he, the new Shaft!

It’s true we were not totally Abba’s Dancing Queens but I can say we were looking like real Disco Queens… Oups, I mean Disco Twins!

Dear « messengers of peace » readers,

Please let me open your innocent eyes to introduce this post: If you’ve always thought Second Life was a world exempt from any kind of violence and aggressiveness, a world where people would be able to communicate and share their space with no prejudice and no bad intentions, a dream world then, let me tell you that maybe your real name is Laura Ingalls Walder (from Little House on the Prairie) or that you must immediately stop taking your anti-depressants (Don’t be ashamed! French people are one of the first consumers of these pills in the world, so if we can deal with this addiction, why couldn’t you?).

Yes, Second Life just like the real one is the place where all aggressions are possible! I won’t talk here about the way our fashionable eyes can be hurt seeing an avatar who wears the proof of its terrible bad taste on its shoulders. I won’t explain how some fashion faux-pas can wound a sensitive SL soul forever. I won’t demonstrate against some designers worse than the H1N1 flu trying to contaminate our wardrobes with the ugliest clothes ever imagined. No, I just want to talk about a stupid, basic, even not original case of aggression.

Some days ago, as I was shopping (again) at Cupcake sim, a girl nicely greeted me. After a certain delay, because I was focused on my wallet and some &bean items, I greeted her back. She was accompanied by two of her friends and I eventually understood she just wanted to tell me she really liked the way my avatar looked. I don’t really know what happened next but one of her friends starting to be more and more verbally aggressive against me. Was that because I had kept speaking English when they were French just like me (It’s always hard for me to switch between languages even for my mother tongue, as we’re used to speak English in SL)? Was this because I had something bad on my nose, on my clothes, on… Whatever! The fact is she decided to insult me in a very “florid” language I really can’t translate here, and for no reason!

I love provocation, I love using coarse expressions sometimes – even in my posts!- just to loosen some inhibited minds up! But this was not provocation: just pure vulgarity and simple meanness. Anyway, thanks to this charming person (I was about to write her name in these lines, but she doesn’t deserve this attention) I’ve learned I was a cunt, a bastard, a nigger, and some other instructive details.

This aggression was so sudden that I was unable to be quick at repartee. How surprising! I’m usually quite good in this exercise, but it had made such a long time since I last had been directly mugged that I was too miffed to say something smart and cold, as I’m used to. My fingers were shaking on my keyboard, my real heart was wildly beating in my chest. The only words I could eventually answer were: “You’re just pitiful, dear. Get lost and go to hell: you just have no sense of humour, of fashion, of any intelligence”. I can’t stop laughing when I read it now: a mix of polish style with coarseness, and a fashionista’s point of view. I know this is ridiculous. For once, I did not feel proud of anything at all!

At first I was about to report this event to LindenLab; then I decided to contain my anger: I put on this famous, wild and incredibly vulgar song of Peaches (I love them), and decided to use my rage to create an outfit! And this is the reason of this post.

This was easy: A short time ago LeLutka, Aoharu, and ANEXX released some creations which (all mixed together) perfectly meet my vengeance’s impulses. I equiped myself with lots of accessories, like a dress from the Doctress Q outfit (by Bare Rose) which includes useful sharp “tools”, piercings from Deviant Kitties, dangerous gloves by Gear Shift, my Spike earrings (yes I know I already blogged about them) and even boxing gloves at any case…

Believe it or not, making this outfit helped me to get my calm back. My mind was peaceful again. Yes, no need to fight or to be violent against violence: FASHION FOR REVENGE!

Dear skinny, obese, thin, fat, small, tall, medium unidentified-reading-objects, please listen to this song and read this post…

Weeks ago as I was eating my breakfast (one diet cup of tea, one diet orange, one diet-nature-yogurt and one diet-mini-bowl of diet-organic-cereals with some drops of low-fat organic soya milk… yes my life is very exciting) and reading some news, some lines caught my attention: “Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t like fat women”.

Was I fooled by my eyes still paralysed by my last Botox injection? I’m afraid my vision was perfect. And here is a short summary of what I read : According to Karl (interviewed by the german magazine Focus), “nobody wants to see plump girls in fashion (…) There are fat old maids sitting in front of the television with their crisps’ pack saying that thin models are hideous. (…) The world of Haute Couture is a world of dream and illusion and must remain like this.”

Wow! I had a terrible headache trying to understand what the f*** had happened to Karl!

Maybe these words were the last provocation of a famous icon of Fashion to be talked about in the actual war’s cacophony against skinny models in fashion shows, adverts and magazines. Whatever your real shape is, you must have heard about this polemic about the actual models and the example they give to teenagers and young women thinking the today canons of beauty flirt with anorexia.

This position which sounded cleaver at first becomes an hypocritical “politically correct” thought, and maybe Karl Lagerfeld, as a refreshing trouble-maker, wanted people to think in a less dichotomous way. I’m not sure… As lots of fashionistas, my brain is too small to go so far…

Maybe his words were only the expression of an ex-obese who can’t accept to look in the mirror and see what he used to be before becoming a kind of skinny-decrepit-living concept. You know, it’s like me: before I used to smoke one pack of slim Vogues a day, and since I’ve stopped smoking I can’t stand smokers in a more violent way than non-smokers themselves!

Or maybe Karl is the most pragmatic designer in the world, and just tried to explain that ultra-thin models are so flat that they are the best tools to show a Haute Couture collection. It’s true that watching his last Chanel show during the fashion week in Paris, you could sometimes imagine clothings were shown on living coat-hangers.

Anyway. No matter which reason he had to express himself, his point of view is completely stupid and discriminatory.

I’m not into this revolution against thin models. In France we already had our big Revolution in 1789, so thanks but non merci. Some girls have nothing but skin and bones but are sublime, some big girls are gorgeous, some thin models look like you could eat chinese food with their legs, some fat girls are indeed depressed in front of television. No rules! No labels! It’s a matter of self-confidence: learn to love you and show your inner beauty! Rise and shine!

Okay, enough! I sound like Jim Carrey in The Yes Man and I’m not fond of him (except his performance in Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind ) neither of the comparison with a man.

As a reaction to Karl Lagerfeld sentences, I decided to create a big shape for my avatar if some people still had to be convinced that big girls can be fashionable and can model. Of course, for my outfit (which is detailed at the end of this post), I could not resist to wear the head piece from “Chapeau Très Mignon” called “Lagerfeld” (I kiss you Karl ;) but not your ass of course).

Walking in the SL streets in this shape, I felt a kind of pride, and not only a posh one. I’m not used to these curves, both RL and SL, but for the first time in this virtual existence, I really felt special, different, AND still gorgeous. We’re all walking around in our perfect skinny shapes, with huge breast, invisible waist, lovely hips, flat ass, perfect soft skins (excluding feet and some skins of designers I won’t reveal… for now). We’re all so far from life in SL and at the same time in a large majority we adopt the codes and the criteria of beauty of RL magazines and advertisings… different worlds, different lives, same stupid unreachable pictures of ideal…

I confess once my outfit made and my pics taken, I jumped back in my skinny shape (despite I’m a true fan of Beth Ditto ), but maybe some of you will be smarter than me after this post.

Here’s the perfect song for your reading…

Dear brave readers,

I was looking for a subject in my brain’s depths, and all I could hear inside my jellied mind was the echo of an abyss. When some weeks ago, as I was shopping at Atelier AM for my Mimikri post, I received a weird IM : “May I ?… I need blood, may I bite you?” What the hell was that?! A voice from hell precisely: a vampire called Eloindir.

My first reaction was to laugh, a bit too nervously maybe: I have never been into role playing games or other obscure existences in SL, except if you consider with a sure sharpness that the SL fashion world and the relationships between SL models themselves or agencies are nightmarish role playing games. But this Eloindir was so polite, asking for my precious fluid of life when he could just have gone for my throat like a wild creature, drained my veins, and made a wonderful necklace with some drops of my frozen blood… Yes he was such a gentleman that I decided to accept.

Well… I must say I did not feel anything special, while I had imagined something sultry like a scene from the Coppola’s Dracula. My kiss of Death was… short… very short. But as I would say to my rl lovers : “Length (double meaning) doesn’t matter”. The experience was new enough to be satisfying. Except I needed something in return. Come on! Now he had my non-expired blood running through his virtual dead body! I’m a shopaholic : you give money you get a dress, you give your blood, what can you get?… And here rang the bell! Halloween was at the end of the month (okay, now it’s over, but this is my usual french delay), I was looking for a post to succeed the one I was going to write about Mimikri: The next one would be something about vampires’ fashion.

Eoindir immediately accepted to be my male partner in fashion crime.

As I’m unused to SL male fashion, I read many blogs, and some will be adeed to Posh Pride’s blogroll as great sources of inspiration. I really wanted to avoid the pitfall of RP outfits because my vampire could not be dressed for a Halloween masked bal except if you turn “trick or treat” into “chic or thread”!

After a short glance to the Thierry Mugler’s male “défilé automne –hiver 2010” which was all in one theatrical, glamourous, and possible to wear (that’s the more important point!) I had the look of Eloindir in mind: A good balance between retro tendencies to remember the classic (has been?) image of vampires, and something looking more modern. My vampire could be a glam rockstar of nowadays playing outrageously with outdated and trendy codes. First, a jacket from a famous male store, but in red as a “clin d’oeil” for Mugler and cliched vampire’s stuff. Then, unusual pants (from a great crazy male designer, Cheerno Destiny) which evoke the 16th European century (with the puffy legs), the 40’s (with the length under the knee), the 80’s (with their provocative humour) and a modern audacity. Next, very old-fashioned shirt and tie, but totally trendy boots from Anexx.

For me it was of course easier: I had already my vision of the contemporary “ideal victim” look: in most folklores, the victim is the innocent young lady or the woman of easy virtue. Between the pure and the whore, I chose the first (contrary to all expectations). I imagined a very shy but totally fashionable student. A girl always dressed in B&W, intern in a local newspaper, and spending days and nights at the library. I wanted of course a white romantic dress for the idea of purity and innocence but I chose the “Dirty snow” outfit by Triangle Caudron and mixed it with my crow top from Milk Motion not to look too “well-behaved” and “smooth”. I added a black blazer and several items from the last Designers United event (which was a SL success) to highlight both her serious mind and her hidden knowledge of trends (I’m sure she has all the Elle magazines under her bed).

For my own vampire outfit, I just had to find the items which would fit the shape I had imagined for Eloindir : red tons on top, black and a bit puffy at hips’level…Here again, I did not want to loose my fashion mind in an outfit which would remember Halloween and not “Hell is In”. That’s why I avoided every places specialized in RP fashion, and only shopped in my usual stores, or used some of my closet’s items. More than being exactly the shape I was looking for, the “Night Love” jacket (from Leezu Baxter) had already the perfect name for my post’s subject, and the LeLutka skirt from the “Theo dress” was the good answer to the CheerNo pants of Eloindir. I authorized myself some gothic accessories (but always fashionable) wearing my succubus pumps from 69 (with their batwings and skulls details) and the “noir desire black widow” headpiece from La Gyo.

My interview with a vampire was over, and my neck a bit painful, but it had worth the trip. Because sometimes, fashion’s inspiration is hidden behind bushes we had not dared to approach…

I’ll end this post with some “messages personnels”:

For Eloindir: Thank you dear for having been such a patient model and friend in our crazy shopping’s and photoshooting’s sessions. I know you’ll bite me again if I don’t say that you’re not a simple vampire, but an elf-vampire. This will explain the size of the ears. However I invite you to watch the “Nosferatu” of Murnau: the vampire have an interesting pair of ears as well and is far to be an elf :p… Just kidding Elo. Thanks again.

For Cayce: I discovered you had created a new blog. I wish you luck and lot’s of readers, and add it to Posh pride blogroll.

Dear known or soon to be fashionista (or fashionist),

I was walking with a rl friend who sometimes meets me in sl for the simple pleasure to wear stilettos. In rl she’s indeed this kind of gorgeous creature, measuring 1,86m (six feets), wearing zero size, looking like a mix of Chanel Iman, Lara Stone and Tao Okamoto, and always walking with flatshoes, pretending that with high heels she’d feel like a weird giant monster… Poor thing… You know, this kind of friend you always want to slap because you have never seen a monster -even a giant one- looking like a Vogue cover… Nevertheless if I was so tall I’d wear breathtaking heels and look at the world from above. Anyway…

We were gossiping at the Glamour expo just before it ends, yawning our pretty heads off, when she suddenly asserted : “You definitely can’t wear this without looking like a slut!”… We were in front of Mimikri, I firstly thought she was delirious, then thinking of all the Mimikri items of my inventory I realised I had always been thinking the same. But my point of view is more contrasted : Mimikri Kit’s creations compel me to confront my personal fashion issues : I’m a fashionable borderline, and I’ve been developing a sadomasochistic relationship with some fashion designers (remember my post about Paper Couture) and Mimikri Kit is not an exception to this rule.

Since my first purchase in… I’ve forgotten (I have no age, time has no hold on me)… Since my first purchase, as I was saying, I’ve been a faithful customer of this label BUT I’ve never been able to determine the general style of the brand, the “basics”. The most detailed and realistic designs in sl fashion mix with some fabrics you wouldn’t find even in the cheapest bargain counter. Some outfits will give you a good taste lesson, when by wearing some others you’ll take the risk to be asked your price for a night (or less!). … Between the glamour chic and the vulgar shock, there’s just one step Mimikri can easily take forward and backward.

But let’s talk clothes with some releases of last months… My first question mark goes to the famous “On Stage” outfit… I can already see your eyes glittering, but don’t be too excited. This deals more with Britney Spears forgetting to wear her panties than with a great actress running for an award. The material – a beaded leather- is as often amazing, and remember me the great quality of other Mimikri’s jackets. But if you’re in the mood to look like a lap dancer in sl streets, it’s up to you. The zip in front of the hot pants which are nothing more than knickers, are almost a joke and a provocation against years of feminist struggles: Don’t spread your legs, just unzip your mini-pants! Those of bad faith could always say the zipper is the symbol of a mouth with sharp teeth, and that these pants are more a trap for penis than a ready to fuck accessory… I’ll stay sceptical… Never forget women are no sex toys! The jacket could be a masterpiece with its theatrical collar and its plunging low neckline. But made heavy with all these pearls and golden-rococo flourishes, it eventually looks like some bad piece of Dior. Yes, “On Stage” could easily be worn by Beyonce Knowles, which is not the best parallel because despite she was dressed by Galliano for her last show, remember he’s the one who invented the concept of “Porno Chic” in fashion. And in “Porno Chic” there’s not only the word Chic…

I’ll be shorter about the “Mieze” collection. I mean a leopard-fur-short-jacket is a risky choice. Virtual furs don’t kill animals and are totally fashionable, that’s right. In natural leopard ton or in grey (a grey leopard fur looks classy and less “new bourgeois”), this jacket is an achievement and its short shape adds a modern and young aspect to a material (the fur) which often looks too classic. But why are they released in pink, orange, purple, turquoise?! This is how an almost article of value becomes a loss in value. Yeah I know in Haute Couture you can easily find coloured furs in crazy tons but this is Haute Couture, when Mimikri claims itself “hot couture”… I’ll use my joker for the Mieze sweaters, dresses, and leggings, because I have not found the opportunity yet to dress myself as a fashionable homeless… And if you mix them with the Ilvi sweaters, you’re ready to go back to Middle Age…

So if you’re still reading, you must hate me, and ask yourself why do I still shop at Mimikri?… Well, the answer is simple : because when she does not mistake “sassy and sexy” for “bitchy”, or “original” for “carnival” Mimikri is an inevitable fashion address in SL.

Let’s face it, the Ilvi dress is a treat for the eyes and for our closet. Mixing the romantic shape of a baby dress made of flounces and broad nets with the raw and genuine aspect of leather is a true discovery for the modern princesses we are. This dress is perfect for those who wants to express both their girlie’s nostalgia and their rock and roll attitude.

The Glitz dress presents versatile aspects: its shift shape makes it classy and a bit strict but its length “au-dessus du genou” and its “bustier” are definitely sexy. The geometric designs of the fabric and the way these lines are coloured and combined gives a futuristic and abstract touch to the ensemble. Wearing this, I feel like a sexy android ready to cause earthquakes under my metallic stilettos.

The new Fritzi outfit looks like delightful candies: the embroidered corduroy skirt is soft and warm, and the blouse light and delicate: the ensemble seems so cute! But too cute to be true! The skirt is very short, and the blouse semi-transparent! A perfect outfit for those like me who don’t want to be too easily labelled. I love to mix its items with others more incongruous to reveal the Audrey Hepburn under cocaine or the housewife fallen in the darkside who both doze in a corner of my brain…

Yes, Mimikri definitely makes me cry: with anger from time to time, with joy the more often!

Dear… Who read this blog by the way?

You must be blind if you have not noticed a sign of our times yet. If you’re in this case but want to find out what I’m speaking about, don’t think it looks like a dead end street. No, it’s more something about the end of a circle. And the end of a circle means as a consequence a new start which is both a change and a beginning again… I know this sentence boils your brain: Fashion is complicated indeed… Let’s say after some years of “easy to wear” silhouettes even in Haute Couture, designers have decided to wink at the eighties. Believe me, you lost reader: this winter will definitely wear shoulder straps!

Good news I’d say! I’ve always been crazy of theatrical and structured styles which were too strong for the woolly, soft and casual tendencies of last seasons. After neo-hippies, let’s move on to neo-eighties: wider shoulders for a “thinner waist” effect, the illusion of a bigger height, and for sharper outfits. The time of laziness has passed and fashion becomes more dramatic again. Let’s energize our closets!

What was a weird garment some years ago is now a must have: when we see so many jackets with proud shoulder straps invading lot’s of stores since months (Milk, SMS, Muism, more recently Sweetest Goodbye…) it’s clear fashion is asking us to assume our hidden Decadence jacket from Bare Rose for instance (I know I have already blogged twice about this piece but who cares?! Let’s say I was “avant-gardiste” http://poshpride.wordpress.com/2008/12/08/we-bear-roses/ & http://poshpride.wordpress.com/2008/03/06/first-fashion-faux-pas/ ). In other words: Never say never.

To illustrate this new-old-tendency I firstly chose a Lelutka jacket with huge shoulders (a bit too much maybe?). As she has always been working with graphic patterns or geometric shapes, I secondly put on a top and trousers made by the great Triangle Caudron. Then I realized I could give to my outfit a punk spirit by adding one element of a skirt from Amerie. The improbable mix of the horizontal black and white lines of the pants and the red tartan frills and laces of the skirt creates an original destructured skirt that Jean-Paul Gaultier himself would love!

Fashion is not simply covering your shape with a flat fabric: this is a matter of movement, of volume, of character.

And to satisfy my neurotic obsession, I’ll post an extra picture of the same outfit without the skirt, but with the famous Decadence jacket instead of the Lelutka’s: “Good things come in threes” and we can’t blame Bare Rose for having anticipating the trend!

Dear I don’t know who,

One thing to learn: Never mistake « being out of fashion » for « being out of season ». You’ll understand my point of you later.

When I came back to SL some weeks ago, I was strongly determined to be a simple- normal-anonymous SL being with no boring and demanding modeling agreement, ready to stop wasting my precious time blogging or flickering or gossiping, and the more important resolved to treat myself for my unreasonable shopping addiction. My first logical move was consequently to visit the Lus’ store and… to spend linden.

Back and lost already.

How delightful! How reassuring to find Paper Couture’s fabrics and atmosphere again. In this virtual world, maybe this is the only thing I’ve really missed, after Cayce Newell of course. I was a bit surprised of what I would call the “italian turn” of their work, and maybe a sort of “calming down”, a light touch of conformity, but I don’t want to make a review of the collection right now. I mean, come on! We’re in September, autumn is knocking at our closets’ doors and I’m talking about the spring issues.

True, but who cares?

I don’t want to be labeled by seasons! And now you understand the first lines of this post:

“Being out of season” is not “being out of fashion”. By mixing two outfits of the spring collection of PC, I propose an ensemble which fits the time: a lovely dress all fashionistas already wore thousands times, but customized by a jacket not too warm because winter is still far from us, but enough to protect your naked arms and shoulders. Lots of frills – I confess, lots of puffy and bows’effects – that’s right, but a romantic shape is necessary to keep some sweetness in the air while leaves are falling.

100% PC: Autumn blows everything away except Paper Couture.

Hair: TOM 14 by BooN

Skin: Glow skin Tasha in Nougat by Laqroki (how original)

Dress: Braided Rosette Tunic by Paper Couture

Jacket from the outfit Carnation Jacket by Paper Couture

Dear posh readers,

It was impossible for me to start a new year without mentioning an icon who died at the end of last december. I was surprised not to read any post about her in the past few weeks… Well as usual I’m a liar : I’ve read maybe two or three mentions of this huge personality in Ingenue’s blog for instance.

Anyway, as a fashionista, a bit trashy, loving fifties graphics, contemporary art, vintage, New York 70′s, underground theater, I want to pay a tribute to the amazing Bettie Page died on the eleventh of december now 2008.

Why a post about Bettie in Posh Pride ?! Because she was controversial, famous, and disturbed rules and manners of her time, and because her life could be written or adapted to the cinema (which is the case actually)… Just like Cayce’s life and mine (in our dreams).

She of course had a terrible chilhood, but succeed in becoming an erotic myth , a trashy pinup, famous for her glamour, SM, bondage, « jungle », naked pics, and her sense of humour and self-derision.

It’s true she was a sexual object, but I’d rather say she was « refreshing » and provocative in an american society of the fifties where women were considered as housewives with no right to be desperate (smile, cook, or die !). She helped to raise the sexual revolution of the sixties. And the fact lot’s of artists from the 50′s to nowadays are inspired by her (from John Galliano to David Lynch…) ends to proove she has definitely entered the private sphere of Icons.

Of course we won’t speak here about how she eventually fell into religion thinking she had become a prophetess, and almost killed her family by enforcing husband and sons to pray in front of a Jesus picture… by « enforcing » I mean with a butcher knife ! How theatrical ! She of course experimented mental asylum but nobody’s perfect, and these are small details which make a person’s life almost incredible and rock n’ roll… despite I would not threaten someone with a butcher knife, except to offer me the last Balenciaga evening dress.

As a posh, I’m pride to show you some pictures as a tribute to Bettie Page… I thank Cayden for accepting to wear my shape and skin (I knew he loved being dressed as a woman :p) and I thank Cayce for keeping at least underwears ;)…
